The
Domaine de Cazes Gite is situated in Cathare
Country to the west of Carcassonne on the southern slopes of the Montagne Noire, facing the
Pyrenees in the south of France. It is within easy walking distance of the small village of
Villemagne.
The nearest town is
Castelnaudary, set on the banks on the
Canal du Midi and which is home to the French Foreign Legion.

Domaine de Cazes Gite is also within easy reach of the Medieval City of
Carcassonne, the traditional market towns of
Revel and Castres and is a short
drive from the bustling city of Toulouse.
For those wishing to go further, the Pyrenees are just over an
hour and a half drive away, ideal for walking or a winter ski trip. For those
seeking the sun, the Mediterranean is only a 70 minute drive.
For those seeking a tranquil holiday, there are plenty of well
marked country walks in the area and also many Cathare Castles to visit; the
nearest being in the next village at Saissac. The
Castle at Saissac is
built on a rocky spur with a vast quadrangular defensive wall dominated by the
remains of a dungeon.
The abbey of St Papoul, founded in the eighth century by Pepin the Short, is only ten minutes away. |
